Bruins blank Aberdeen

Keegan Asmundson had a perfect night in the net as the Austin Bruins beat Aberdeen (12-19-3 overall) 2-0 in Riverside Arena Friday.

Asmundson, a 6-4 goalie from Mayville, N.D., picked up his first shutout of the season when he stopped all 35 shots he saw in the win.

The Bruins (10-18-3 overall) took the lead in the second period when defenseman Jonathan Gehrt scored and Chase McDonald added an insurance goal in the third.

The Bruins will host their youth hockey event Jan. 22 at Riverside Arena.

The Bruins will play the Bismarck Bobcats at 7:05 p.m. and every youth player can get in for $2. There will be a skate with the players/autograph session, along with gift bags and intermission activities.
