The Anoka-Ramsey women’s basketball team was too much for the Blue Devils to handle as Riverland fell 89-51 in Riverland Gym Wednesday.

RCC (10-6 overall, 0-2 MCAC South) scored the first six points of the game and they trailed just 14-12 after Robin Arjes scored with 14:10 left in the game. But A-R (15-1 overall, 2-0 MCAC South) scored the next 19 points as they cranked up the speed to a frantic pace.

“They’re a very good team and there’s no drop off when they sub,” RCC head coach Suzy Hebrink said. “We’ve been struggling at doing the little things like setting good screens, waiting for screens and making cuts. That show’s against a good team and they did the little things right.”

Mallory Cramer poured in 27 points while grabbing 16 rebounds to lead the A-R and her defense helped hold RCC’s leading scorer Krista Viehauser to just 11 points.

Hebrink is hoping the loss can show her team that it needs to work a little harder the rest of the way.

“I think now they understand why we need to have intense practices,” she said.
