Wilbur Donald Jones, 86, of Austin, died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2010, at Meadow Manor Care Center in Grand Meadow.

Wilbur was born July 1, 1924, in LeRoy, to Curtis and Margaret (Hansen) Jones. On May 15, 1942, he was united in marriage to Margaret Pace in Austin. She preceded him in death on Dec. 23, 1999. Wilbur was a retired employee of Hormel Foods, having worked there for 42 years. He was a member of St. Edward’s Catholic Church, a lifetime member of the Cedar River Archery Club, the Austin Camera Club, and the Knights of Columbus.

Wilbur enjoyed fishing, hunting, photography, archery, woodworking, pool (billiards), and square dancing.

He is survived by two children, Sherry (John) Grant and Roy (Diane) Jones, both of Austin; six grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marie Peterson and Margaret George, both of Grand Meadow.

In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Edward; sister, Emma and great-granddaughter, Brooke.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 27, 2010, at St. Edward’s Catholic Church with Father Joe Fogal officiating. Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday at Mayer Funeral Home and also one hour before the service at the church on Monday. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
