Viola French, 86, of Hayfield, died on Dec. 14, 2010, at her daughter’s home in Mantorville.
Emma Viola Lampland was born Feb. 28, 1924, in Hayfield, the daughter of Henry B. and Emma (Vers) Lampland. Viola was united in marriage to Richard Andrew French on Jan. 8, 1944.
Viola was a lifelong, active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hayfield, as well as serving as parish secretary for several years. Her volunteer activities were numerous in the Hayfield community.
Viola is survived by three daughters: Ruth French, Spokane, Wash.; Sharyn French, Mantorville; Evon French (Dennis) Miller of Seneca, S.C.; four granddaughters: Jessica Borgan, Spokane, Wash; Justina (Jon) Naylor Pardalis, Vienna, Va.; Jamie Borgan, Spokane, Wash.; Robin Miller, Bozeman, Mont. and one great-grandson, Dylan Eliot.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two infant brothers, Henry Charles and Harlan Keith Lampland.
The memorial service for Viola French will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 19, 2010, at the Czaplewski Family Funeral Home, 501 2nd Street NW in Hayfield with Reverend Carol Schafer officiating. Inurnment will be in the spring at Fairview Cemetery in Hayfield.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at the Czaplewski Family Funeral Home in Hayfield. Family prefers memorials to Season’s Hospice or American Diabetes Association.
