The Hayfield girls basketball team didn’t score a single point in the last eight and a half minutes at Pine Island, but they still walked away with a 36-35 win Friday.

Pine Island (0-3 overall, 0-2 HVL) had its last second shot go in after the buzzer and its only field goal in the last nine minutes was a three-pointer.

Alyssa Selk scored 14 first half points as she hit four threes to give the Vikings (2-0 overall, 2-0 HVL) a 24-18 lead at the break.“They got out and covered Alyssa in the second half and they weren’t going to ler her beat them,” Hayfield head coach Fred Kindschy said. “We’re glad to get the win, but we became a little complacent.”
