A stolen vehicle was recovered in Mapleview early Sunday morning after a routine traffic stop resulted in three juvenile suspects — ages 15, 14 and 13 — fleeing from police.

Police stopped the 1999 Jeep Wrangler around 1:20 a.m. Sunday because the vehicle had a burned out headlight. After the car was parked, the three juvenile occupants fled but were eventually apprehended and are currently in custody.

The vehicle had been reported as stolen in the middle of the day Saturday from the 600 block of 1st Ave. SW.

When police initiated the traffic stop, they were informed that the stolen jeep had a .22 caliber loaded pistol in it.

The pistol was recovered at Bremerton Apartments; the juveniles allegedly sold it to a 22-year-old man at Bremerton for $80.

The case is being forwarded to the county attorney for appropriate charges. Police Chief Brian Krueger said the man who purchased the pistol and the owner of the jeep could potentially face charges for receiving stolen property and the way in which the pistol was stored in the vehicle, respectively.
