Stanley Glen Stanton, 63, of Owatonna died peacefully while surrounded by his family at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2010.

Stan was born June 19, 1947, in Austin, the son of Glen and Irene (Clarke) Stanton. He was raised in Brownsdale and graduated from Hayfield High School in 1965.

Stan served in the U.S. Air Force from 1966-1970. Stan married DeeAnna Coyle June 22, 1968, at Queen of Angles Catholic Church in Austin. He worked at SPX in Owatonna for 36 years, retiring on Nov 2, 2007.

Stan was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Owatonna,serving as an usher for 30 years. Stan was a friend to all and was known by his wit and personality. He was a collector of many things and loved to see what he could dig out of flea markets and antique stores. He collected John Deere toy tractors and Twins bobbleheads. His most recent pride and joy was his toy train layout in which he invested many hours. During his retirement years he spent many days fishing and on vacation at the beach.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, DeeAnna; two sons, Jason (Liz) Stanton of Eagan; Eric (Robin) Stanton of Owatonna; brother, Roger (Norma) Stanton of Hemet, Calif; sister, Carol (Ron) Merten of Rose Creek; three grandchildren: Linnea, Adam, Macy and many nieces and nephews.

Stan was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, Dec. 10, 2010, at the Brick-Meger Funeral Home and one hour prior to the funeral on Saturday at the church.
