The Southland girls basketball team beat Rushford/Peterson (0-4 overall) 53-45 on the road Friday.

The Rebels (4-1 overall) won the game with Jana Schammel sitting out with a minor injury and senior center Brandi Schammel picked up the slack by scoring 16 points.

“Brandi played a really good game in the paint on offense and defense,” Southland head coach Bob Sheehan said. “As a team, we picked it up and beat them down the court, while playing pretty solid defense.”
