Meteorologist Dan Jones of the National Weather Service said the snow should lighten around the evening hours and turn into freezing drizzle, with accumulations of one-tenth of an inch possible. Jones said the freezing drizzle and snow mixture could continue through Tuesday morning.

Skies are expected to clear later on Tuesday and on Wednesday as the low pressure system driving the storms drifts off to the east. However, long-range forecasts are for at least a 50 percent chance of more snow late in the week, followed by clear skies on Christmas.
