MINNEAPOLIS — A Marine from Minnesota has died of injuries suffered during his second tour in Afghanistan.
The Department of Defense says 21-year-old Cpl. Sean Osterman of Princeton died Thursday. The department said Monday he was wounded in combat last Tuesday.
The Star Tribune reports Osterman was part of a Camp Lejune-based unit that had been in Afghanistan since about Thanksgiving.
It quotes a family statement as saying he was born in La Crosse, Wis., and lived near there until age 9. He was a 2007 graduate of St. Cloud Technical High School.
The newspaper also reports his father, retired Marine Reserve Col. Anthony Osterman, was once responsible for training, equipping and manning Afghan security forces.
He will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery. A local memorial service will be planned.
