Leonard M. Ehmke, 74

Leonard Maynard Ehmke, 74, died Friday morning, Dec. 3, 2010, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester.
Leonard was born on Nov. 26, 1936, the son of Maynard and Marjorie (Lewis) Ehmke in Austin. Leonard grew up in Waltham.
He was united in marriage to Sharon Read on March 16, 1957, at the Evanger Lutheran Church in the Dexter/Sargeant area. He drove truck before he started work at Hormel and worked there for 19 years. He served in the U.S. Army from 1957-1958, and was a member of the Hayfield American Legion. Leonard was a member of St. Michael’s Lutheran Church his entire life.
Leonard enjoyed building miniature doll houses, fishing, traveling, and family activities.
Leonard is survived by his wife: Sharon Ehmke, Waltham; three sons: Jeffrey (Amy Ellis) Ehmke, Waltham; Rick Ehmke, Mantorville, Minn.; Michael (Michelle) Ehmke, Waltham; one daughter: Lisa Musolf, Waltham; 16 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; three sisters: Beverly (John) Remker, Rochester; Bonnie (Larry) Sumner, Waltham; Donna (Donald) Senjem, Hayfield; and one brother: Bradley (Carol) Ehmke, Waltham.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one sister, one grandson, and one son-in-law.
The funeral service for Leonard will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2010, at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church, 30450 570th Avenue, Waltham with the Rev. John Heruth officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery with military honors by the Hayfield American Legion, Rothie Post No. 330.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 6, 2010, at the Czaplewski Family Funeral Home, 501 Second Street NW, Hayfield, MN and one hour before the service at the church on Tuesday. Blessed be his memory.
