Senior guard Caleb Leichtnam poured in a career-high 40 points to lead the Grand Meadow boys basketball team past LeRoy/Ostrander 73-61 in GM Tuesday.

The Superlarks (1-1 overall, 1-0 SEC) led 26-24 at the half, but their offense got going in the second half as Leichtnam led the way.

“Caleb Leichtnam was on fire in the second half and he really helped us increase our lead,” GM head coach Chad Burmester said. “I can’t say that I’ve ever seen a high school player just will their team to a win tonight like he did.”

Burmester is hoping GM’s defense gets better, but he’s glad that they were able to play at a fast pace.

“We are still trying to learn as a team that we want to play up-tempo, but we also need to play under control and at a speed that allows us to take advantage of the turnovers we are forcing,” he said.

Leichtnam hit five threes and had six steals, while Bryce Benson finished with 10 points and four blocked shots for GM.

L/O (0-2 overall, 0-1 SEC) was led by Mark Miller, who scored 19 points.
