Hormel corporate offices give $230K to United Way

Hormel Food Corporation of Austin MN completed their 2010 fundraising campaign for United Way of Mower County.

Hormel Foods Corporate Office employees raised a total of $230,000 this year, exceeding last year’s record setting campaign of $209,000.

“This is an outstanding workplace campaign” said Mandi Lighthizer-Schmidt, executive director of the United Way of Mower County. “Hormel Foods Corporation has always been a great community supporter. Hormel’s campaign chairs of Jen Moriarity, Lloyd Brandon, Tom Klein and all the solicitors did an amazing job out of the goodness of their hearts and the generosity of Hormel employees will go a long way in helping those in need in Mower County. To exceed last year by $21,000 is fantastic. ”

United Way of Mower County is nearing the end of its annual fundraising campaign. Last year the United Way of Mower County raised over $972,000. Funding to programs increased by 7 percent.

In 2010, the United Way of Mower County funded over 60 programs throughout Mower County focused on improving the lives of area residents.
