Edith Johanna Ellis, 92

Edith Johanna Ellis, 92, of Blooming Prairie, formerly of Owatonna, died at Prairie Manor in Blooming Prairie early Monday morning, Dec. 13, 2010.

She was born April 15, 1918, to Carl and Inez (Norlander) Goblenz in St. Paul, where she grew up. When she was 16, the family moved to Owatonna. Edith graduated from Owatonna High School in 1936, went to work for Photo News and in 1939, married Robert Peterson. They were later divorced.

Edith worked at St. Clair’s Clothing Store. She married Carl Ellis in 1947; they later divorced. She was employed by Josten’s for over 18 years. A member of St. John Lutheran Church in Havana Township, near Claremont, and also a member of Eastern Star, Edith enjoyed spending time with her family and shopping.

She is survived by her daughter, Merry (Larry) Kruckeberg, Claremont; grandchildren, Anne (Tim) Schmidt, Le Center and Tim (Michelle) Kruckeberg, Claremont; great-grandchildren, Chase Schmidt and Emma Kruckeberg; one cousin; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010, at St. John Lutheran Church in Havana Township, near Claremont, with Pastor Keith Meyer officiating. Visitation is one hour prior to the service. Interment is at St. John’s Cemetery in Owatonna. Worlein Blooming Prairie Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
