Donald Mearl Vietor, 63, died Nov. 23, 2010.

Don Vietor

Don was born here in Austin. He graduated from Austin High School in 1965. As a teenager he worked at the Piggly Wiggly grocery store, which started a life-long career in the grocery business. He also drove a cab here for a while, but the grocery business was what he enjoyed and took great pride in.

He married Linda Lenoch, had three sons, and was later divorced.

When he wasn’t working, he was an avid bowler, but he most loved to spend time going over along the Mississippi valley area,

sightseeing and, of course, fishing.

As a young adult he and his brother, Mike, thought they’d try moving to California. But Minnesota was always on his mind. When fishing season openned, all he wished for was to be catching a big one at Alma, MN, as he did so many times with his father and brothers. So it was fitting that he would eventually buy a log cabin in Red Wing where he spent many happy years. It would also be the home where he passed away, in his sleep, just as he wished.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, Lambert and Margie Vietor, his brothers John Paul Vietor and Mike Vietor, and his grandson Demetrius Vietor.

He is survived by his brothers; Bob Hebl of Austin, Craig Vietor of Austin, and Jim Vietor (Sally) of Elkton. Sisters; Sharon (Bob) Knutson of Owatonna, Janet (Dave) of Springfield, Oregon, and Mary (Jeff) McNiff of Austin. Sons; Lee (Tina) Vietor of Hayfield with their daughter Alexis, Terry Vietor with his children Autumn, Teryn and Stella, and Jeff Vietor.

By Don’s request, there will be a memorial service held next spring at Todd Park. Any condolenses may be sent to 924 4th Ave, NE, Austin, MN 55912.
