Dale Ihrke, 80, of Austin, died Tuesday morning, Dec. 14, 2010, at his home surrounded by his family.

Dale was born Nov. 27, 1930, to Frank and Gladys (Abbott) Ihrke in Austin where he grew up and attended Austin Community College. Dale married Petra Nielsen on June 29, 1952, in Austin. He worked at Hormel as a foreman for 41 years.

Dale was an active member of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church where he served as an elder. He was an avid golfer (two holes-in-one), bowler, loved to fish, hunt and spend time in the outdoors. One of Dale’s greatest joys was spending time with his children and grandchildren. He looked forward to their annual camping trips and vacations. Dale shared a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed exchanging stories with his morning coffee group.

Dale had great love and pride for all of his family and friends. We will all miss him dearly.

Dale is survived by his wife, Petra; son, Steve (Patti); daughter, LeeAnn; brother, Keith; sister, Carole (Blaine) Nobbs; grandson, Peter; granddaughter, Kaitlin.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Phyllis and infant son, David.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 17, 2010, at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church with Pastor David Fleischman officiating. Friends may call one hour before the service at the church on Friday. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
