Council to accept, disperse grants

The City Council will accept several Hormel Foundation grant awards at its meeting Monday evening at City Hall.

Some of the grants include $100,000 for the Main Street Project, $50,000 for soccer fields, $40,000 for a pool splash park, $30,885 for defibrillators for the Austin Police Department and $15,000 for Spamtown USA Freedom Fest.

The council will also discuss 2011 health insurance plans for city employees and award a bid to an insurance company.

Several appointments and reappointments to boards and commissions are also on Monday night’s agenda. City Council will vote to approve the appointments.

The meeting will be held at City Hall Monday night at 5:30 p.m. and the public is welcome to attend.

After the regular meeting, a work session will be held to discuss the future operation of the Spamtown Belle, the future of the transfer station and the implementation of new codes of conduct for council meetings.
