The Southland girls basketball team put up a season-high amount of points as it beat Wabasha/Kellogg (0-6 overall) 85-59 in Wabasha Thursday.

Southland (8-1) was led by senior center Brandi Schammel, who poured in a career-high 28 points in the win.

“She worked real well inside, plus we ran our break real well against their press and she was the recipient,” Southland head coach Bob Sheehan said. “They missed a lot of threes and that helped get us going.”

Southland led 50-35 at the half.
