The Riverland men’s basketball team persevered in the face of a 13-point second-half deficit to beat Rainy River 88-83 on the road Saturday.

The Blue Devils (5-6 overall) got big scoring efforts from DeAaron Hearn, who scored 28, and Josh Davis, who scored 22, as they came back to win.

“We made some good plays on the offensive end while getting solid stops on defense,” RCC head coach Dan Swift said. “Our guys never got down and worked really well together.”

Rainy River led by eight at the half after hitting 52 percent of its field goals and seven three pointers.

“At the half we talked about containing their men on the perimeter,” Swift said. “We changed up our defense to a zone, and that caused some problems. We stayed aggressive and were able to do a good job.”
