Vikings players, trainers host “Play 60” clinic

MINNEAPOLIS  — Tarvaris Jackson, Sidney Rice and E.J. Henderson will be just a few Minnesota Vikings participating in a “Play 60” clinic at Catholic Charities-St. Joseph’s Home for Children in Minneapolis.

Teammates Freddie Brown and Everson Griffen will also participate in the event Tuesday from 3 to 4 p.m.

About 50 youth from St. Joe’s and Catholic Charities Northside Child Development Center will be led through a series of drills to show them the basics of football. Players will talk to the kids about perseverance and teamwork, and stress the importance of being active.

The NFL’s “Play 60” campaign is aimed at getting children active for at least 60 minutes a day.

St. Joe’s provides shelter and services for Hennepin County children removed from their homes due to abuse or instability.
