Riverland men top NIACC at home

The Riverland men’s basketball team came back to beat Northern Iowa Area Community College 103-96 in RCC gym Saturday.

NIACC-transfer DeAaron Hearn scored 27 points to lead RCC past his old team and Josh Davis added 16 points and 11 rebounds for the Blue Devils (3-2 overall).

RCC trailed by 11 in the first half, but rallied back in it to take a 62-60 lead early in the second half. The Blue Devils led by 10 with 10 minutes to go in the game and it hit its free throws down the stretch.

“Ten minutes is a lot of time for an explosive team like NIACC,” RCC head coach Dan Swift said. “We knocked down our free throws and finished with a win against a very good team.”

RCC dominated the boards to the tune of 65-42.
