Rifle stolen in hog barn burglaries

Two Rose Creek area hog confinement barns were broken into over the weekend, leaving many tools missing.

One of the burglaries occurred at 63835 190th Street Sunday evening. Mower County sheriff’s deputies arrived to find that someone had forced entry into the building and taken numerous tools.

There is no cost estimate on the missing tools yet.

The other incident happened between 5:30 p.m. Saturday evening and 10 a.m. Sunday morning at 19849 600th Avenue.

The owner of the property reported several power tools, a .22-caliber rifle and other miscellaneous tools missing. The missing items are worth between $800 and $900.

Mower County Chief Deputy Mark May said the burglary investigations are ongoing.
