Nancy WinjumNancy Lou Winjum, 76, passed away Oct. 30, 2010, in Phoenix.

She was born Feb. 24, 1934, to Vera (Smith) Kaputin and Harm Kaputin in London. She graduated from Austin High School in 1952. Nancy served in the Air Force/WAF from 1956-1958.

While raising her family of three children in Austin, she returned to school and graduated from Faribault School of Practical Nursing in 1971 and worked as a nurse at St. Olaf Hospital in Austin. She also worked many years at the Oak Leaf Restaurant.

She relocated to Columbia Medical Center in Phoenix in 1980 and worked there for 17 years before retiring.

Nancy is survived by her daughter, Denise Winjum-Clifton; son, Robert (Mike) Winjum; granddaughter, Sarah Clifton-Luevano (Victor); great-grandson, Samuel; two great-granddaughters: Letricia and Victoria, both of Phoenix; sister, Delores Fero, Tonka Bay; sister-in-law, Akiko Kaput, Sun Center City, Fla.; one niece and six nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Vera (Smith) Kaput and Harm Kaput; son, Alan Scott Winjum and brother, Roland Kaput.

There will be a funeral at Christ Church Lutheran at 3901 E. Indian School Road in Phoenix, AZ, on Friday, Nov. 12, at 11 a.m. Following will be a memorial service for Nancy on Nov. 12, 2010, at 1p.m. at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 North Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, AZ.
