ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Election officials across Minnesota start training Wednesday for a statewide recount in the undecided governor’s race. The recount training is happening by webcast, with a feed into a meeting room in the Capitol complex.

Democrat Mark Dayton leads Republican Tom Emmer by more than 8,700 votes out of 2.1 million cast. The margin is small enough to prompt an automatic hand recount.

The state canvassing board is expected to order the recount next Tuesday, although Emmer has asked the Minnesota Supreme Court to order a statewide review of election-night counting procedures before the recount begins. It’s unclear whether the move will delay things.

The recount is tentatively scheduled to start Nov. 29, with possible certification of a winner by mid-December.
