Lyle/Pacelli head boys basketball coach Reid Olson is stepping down after seven years at the helm and Casey Anderson is stepping in to take over.

Anderson, who coached L/P’s JV team last year, doesn’t plan on changing much as far as strategy goes.

“There will be a lot of defense,” he said. “Defense creates offense and we’re going to try to keep it low scoring.”

It is the first varsity job for Anderson, who also coached junior high basketball and Austin Youth Basketball in the past.

“I’m pretty excited and it’s a good group of kids to work with,” he said.

Olson is looking to focus more on his position as athletic director.

“I enjoyed the opportunity to work with the kids and last year was an amazing run,” Olson said. “It was time for Casey (to take over). He’s earned this opportunity and it allows me to concentrate on my duties as the AD and future responsibilities.”

Anderson has worked with the L/P boys basketball team for the past four years.

L/P’s alumni game will be held Saturday, Dec. 4 in Lyle. The time of the game is to be determined.
