A 31-year old Austin man was sentenced to six months in jail for possessing drugs in a school zone — a felony — Thursday in Mower County court.

According to records, Brian Omar Martin was among four people arrested during a police search of 505 Fifth Ave. NW on May 18. Members of the Austin Police Department, the Mower County Sheriff’s Office and the Southeast Minnesota Narcotics and Gang Taskforce conducted the raid, which was part of an ongoing SEMNGTF investigation.

Also arrested in the case were 29-year-old Dinah Rae Brandt, 22-year-old Shavon Leeanne Hodges and 27-year-old Chevy Lee Chris Brown.

During the search of the residence, which is within 300 feet of Pacelli High School, officers found methamphetamine and marijuana paraphernalia, as well as just less than 1 gram of meth in a plastic baggy. A syringe loaded with what was likely meth was also recovered in a bathroom, according to a police report.

Several cell phones recovered by authorities also contained text messages related to drug sales.
