Saturday’s outdoor activities will include sleigh and wagon rides around the fairgrounds and a wagon ride just for the kids with a team of miniature ponies. Everyone will also have the chance to climb into the 1004 steam engine and blow the whistle. Don’t forget to wander around to see all the Christmas decorations on display. Some lights even dance to music.

Inside the recently upgraded Pioneer Building, families can spend quality time working together on crafts like ornament making, decorating cookies, and making pinecone bird feeders. Visitors will be entertained by several musicians throughout the evening as well.

A jewelry stand will have beaded jewelry available to visitors.

Homemade chili and hot dogs will be available along with some old-fashioned bottled pop from Spring Grove Bottling. The bake sale continues in the Administration Building providing some treats to take home for the sweet toothed members of your family.

Door prizes will also be given away. Visitors can buy raffle tickets to win one of two decorated pencil Christmas trees. Tickets are $2 and can be purchased at the MCHS office or from volunteers.

The silent auction will include items for everyone in the family, including your dog. Items will include wreaths, collector coin sets, a variety of baskets, a variety of gift certificates from Mower County businesses, toy tractors, a painting by Jim Hansel, Twins memorabilia, an autographed photo of the Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Percy Harvin, and a 10 game season ticket package from the Austin Bruins. Bids can be placed during Saturday’s activities until 6:45 p.m.

Any person or business that would like to assist with baked goods for the bake sale, door prizes, or silent auction items may contact the Mower County Historical Society or if you would like more information on the event, call (507) 437-6082.
