Austin will officially have a police captain after Monday night, when Detective Dave McKichan will be pinned and sworn in as captain.

The pinning ceremony will take place during the regularly scheduled City Council meeting at 5:30 Monday evening at City Hall.

Austin Police Department has not had a captain in nearly four years, since Curt Rude was put on leave.

Several public hearings on sidewalk construction, snow removal and sanitary sewer project assessments will also be held during the meeting. Council members will review the cost of the assessments and approve them accordingly.

Following the meeting, council members will hold a work session to discuss options for the repair of the wind-damaged bandshell roof. The roof started to come off during the high winds the week of Oct. 25.
