Thomas Grandville Underwood, 85 of Blooming Prairie, died Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010 at Prairie Manor.

He was born July 2, 1925 to Edgar and Myrtle (Hulagaard) in Austin. He attended Blooming Prairie schools and enlisted in the Army. After returning home from the service, he worked at Hormels for a short time, then moved to Colorado where he worked in the mines. He returned to Minnesota and worked for MEI-Cargill in Minneapolis until his retirement. He loved old cars, airplanes and watching television.

Thomas is survived by his son, Michael (Karen) Underwood of Bishop, CA; daughter, Linda (Dan) VanDoren of State College, PA; three grandchildren: Michelle, Dana and Sherri; four brothers: Chester Underwood of Lansing; William Underwood of Winter Garden, FL; Franklin Underwood of Houston, Texas; Harold (Jeanette) Underwood of Winter Garden, FL; two sisters: Barbara (Charles) Root of Hayfield and Darlene (Robert) Thomas of Bloomington. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Myrtle Underwood and a sister, Dorothy.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010 at Worlein Blooming Prairie Funeral Home with Rev. Heidi Heimgartner officiating and military rites by American Legion Post 52 and VFW Post 878. Friends may greet the family one half hour prior to the service.
