Soldier from New London killed in Afghanistan

WILLMAR — A soldier from the west-central Minnesota town of New London has been killed in Afghanistan.

The West Central Tribune of Willmar reports 22-year-old Ryane (RYE’-uhn) Clark, the son of Rick and Tracy Clark of New London, was killed Monday.

The newspaper says his death has been confirmed by his mother on her Facebook page, and by the principal and athletic director at New London-Spicer High School, Kevin Acquard and John Braa (bray).

Acquard tells the newspaper school officials were notified of Clark’s death Tuesday morning.

Further details on his death were not immediately available. The Defense Department has not yet announced it.

Clark was a 2007 graduate of New London-Spicer High School, where he was a wrestler. He was also an Eagle Scout with Troop 228 in New London.
