Schools seeking volunteers to take survey

Superintendent David Krenz is calling for more volunteers to take an online survey which will help form how the school district operates.

In a meeting Monday night, Krenz said 872 fifth-grade through 12th-grade students had taken a three-question survey as part of the school district’s Strategic Planning Initiative, a community-wide evaluation which takes place every five years.

Earlier in the school year, students, parents and community members were encouraged to participate in the online survey, which consists of three open-ended questions about what they think about the district. There are different questions for students, staff, parents and community members.

Krenz said so far, in addition to the 872 district students, 61 parents, 90 district staff members and 11 community members have taken the survey. Residents have until Wednesday, Oct. 20 to take the survey, which is posted on the Austin district’s website. These results will be used during the next Strategic Planning meeting on Oct. 26.

After reviewing the results, the school district will present them to the school board on Dec. 12.

The final step will be to blend the data from the Strategic Planning workshop in August with the public survey results to formulate the school district’s mission plan for the next five years.
