The No. 9 seeded LeRoy/Ostrander volleyball team had its season end in a five-game loss at No. 8 Rushford/Peterson (11-16 overall) in the first round of the Section 1A East Division playoffs Monday.

The Cardinals (17-12 overall) lost by scores of 26-24, 19-25, 25-16, 25-27, 15-6.

L/O struggled with communication in its last game.

“We came out flat and could not get anything going at all,” L/O head coach Lisa Swenson said. “I think both teams were exhausted (in game five) but we made some simple mistakes.”

Still, Swenson was pleased with the season her team had this year.

“It was a good rebuilding season and I thin a lot of people counted us out,” she said. “It was nice to be back in the conference title game and it was a good year.”
