Pacelli did score a victory from No. 2 singles player Abby Leif when she came back from an early defecit to defeat Shelby Derrick of New Life Academy 0-6, 7-6(3), (10-6).

“Abby has not had the season she was hoping for,” Pacelli head coach Mark Henderson said. “Her confidence has been on a rollercoaster all year. I can’t say enough about the fight in that young lady. To come back the way she did after such a bad start shows a whole lot of heart.”

Leif dropped her second match to Sonja Das of St. Paul Academy 6-0, 6-0. Das is currently the number 1 ranked player in class A.

“It’s not every day you get to play against such an awesome player,” Henderson said. “Abby will be able to tell that story for the rest of her life.”
