Laura Grace Erickson-Groth, 81, formerly of Spring Valley, died Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010 at Maple Manor Health Care and Rehabilitation where she had resided for about two years.

She was born July 30, 1929 in Rural Chatfield, to Edward and Mildred (Thurbur) Higgins. She attended country schools through the eighth grade and was united in marriage to Edwin Z. Erickson in 1956; they were later divorced. She was then united in marriage to Albert Groth and they were later divorced. She lived most of her life in the Chatfield and Spring Valley area where she was a homemaker and mother. In her spare time she enjoyed spending time at the cabin, camping with her children and grandchildren, traveling in her camper and sight seeing, especially in the fall. Laura also enjoyed crocheting.

She is survived by six children: Dean Raveill, Edwin Erickson and Phillip Erickson all of Spring Valley; Patricia Erickson of Chatfield; Sherri (Louie) Finley of Harmony; Charles Erickson of Austin; 22 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; one brother, Edward (Margretha) Higgins of Rochester; and two sisters: Ruby Schiebe of Longville and Pauline Forney of Chatfield.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, two sons: David Raveill and Alden Erickson and one daughter, Mildred Erickson.

Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. on Wednesday Oct. 20, 2010 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Spring Valley. There will be a short service at 4 p.m.

Burial will take place at a later date in the Hamilton Cemetery near Racine.
