ST. CLOUD — St. Cloud police say a kidnapping and assault suspect was shot and wounded in an exchange of gunfire with officers.

Authorities say the 21-year-old man is hospitalized in serious, but stable condition. Officers were trying to arrest the man Sunday night on a variety of charges, which also include robbery and burglary.

The suspect was taken to a hospital in St. Cloud, then transferred to the Hennepin County Medical Center.

KSTP-TV reports the officers involved were not injured.
