WILLMAR — The West Central Tribune is the latest daily newspaper in Minnesota to endorse the Independence Party candidate for governor.

Tom Horner is in a three-way race with Democrat Mark Dayton and Republican Tom Emmer.

The West Central Tribune said Monday that Horner is a moderate, much like the majority of Minnesotans.

Several other Forum Communications Co., newspapers have also endorsed Horner, including The Forum of Fargo, N.D., the Duluth News Tribune and the Bemidji Pioneer.

The state’s largest newspaper, the Star Tribune of Minneapolis, endorsed Horner Sunday in an editorial.

Polls have shown Horner, a public relations executive and former Republican, consistently trailing both Dayton and Emmer by double-digit figures.
