Leland and Cecile were married at West St. Olaf Church in rural Hayfield, Nov. 2, 1940. After a short honeymoon in St. Paul, they returned to the Oslo area where they have been life-long residents.

After working hard all his life as a farmer, Leland semi-retired from farming in April 1977. He also drove school bus for the Hayfield School area for 22 years. He has always loved working the land and to this day, you can still see him out mowing his 10-acre lawn.

Cecile was not only a homemaker, but a teacher as well. She started teaching in 1935 at the age of 17. She retired in 1982 after teaching 47 years in the rural country schools, as well as Dodge Center and Kasson Elementary Public Schools.

Cecile took great pride in teaching her students. She will tell you the rewards were tremendous!

They raised six wonderful children, two of whom are deceased. They have also been blessed with 19 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

At 94 years of age both Leland and Cecile still stay very active. On any day you can find Leland working outside and Cecile making another quilt for a family member or friend. They will both tell you family, friends, and hard work keep them young.

Please come and join them in celebrating 70 amazing years together.

Cards are welcome. No gifts please. Your presence is gift enough.
