Donna A. Nowell, 88 of Austin died Wednesday Oct. 20 at the Prairie Manor Health Care Center in Blooming Prairie.

Donna was born Jan. 13, 1922, in Sargeant Township, the daughter of Clarence and Matilda (Holen) Orpen. She attended school in Sargeant Township and was married to Dallas A. Nowell on Oct. 14, 1938. They have lived in the Austin area where she was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church. Donna enjoyed visiting with friends and neighbors. She had a great love for animals and enjoyed putting together and working on photo albums.

Donna was preceded in death by her husband Dallas in 1989, a daughter Dorothy Tabor, son Dale Nowell and her parents.

She is survived by daughter and sons-in-law; Gloria and Darryl Wiskow, Pine Island; Glenn Tabor, Kansas; son Gary Lee Nowell, Austin; daughter-in-law, Diane Nowell, Waterloo, Iowa; seven grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Hollis Jacobson, Columbus, Mont., Lola Lysne, Austin; brother and sister-in-law, Clarence and Joann Orpen, Austin; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, Oct. 25 at 11 a.m. at the Clasen-Jordan Mortuary Chapel with the Reverend Ron Barnett officiating. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery. Friends may greet the family for one hour before the service on Monday morning. The family prefers memorials.
