Caroline Tschida, 86, of Austin, died Saturday, Oct. 2, 2010, at Sacred Heart Care Center.

Caroline was born Sept. 27, 1924, in St. Louis, Missouri to Rudolph and Veronica (Votlucka) Stadnick. On June 24, 1944, she was united in marriage to Eugene Tschida in Wayne County. Caroline was a homemaker. She was a member of Queen of Angels Catholic Church, St. Olaf Hospital Auxiliary, Women’s Council of Catholic Women and the Red Cross. Caroline was the newsletter editor for the Hospital Auxiliary and also a board member. She enjoyed knitting, reading, camping, cooking and doing volunteer work.

Survivors include eight children, Suzanne Lastine, Red Wing; Thomas (Angelina) Tschida, Austin; Nancy (Jim) Grunewald, Austin; Carole (Scott) Anderson, Centennial, Colo.; Robert (Lisa) Tschida, Pueblo, Colo., Joseph Tschida, Colorado Springs, Colo.; Patrick Tschida, Littleton, Colo.; Andrew Tschida, Faribault; 16 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; sister, Elisabeth Marsh, Lexington, Ky.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene on April 21, 2001; and her son, Michael Tschida.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. on Sat., Oct. 9, 2010, at Queen of Angels Catholic Church with Father Gregory Parrott officiating. The family will greet friends one hour before the service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
