Tom Wichmann has done it all — from mechanical operating to sales.

Now, Wichmann is taking his practical experience to promote a product he truly believes in: Ecowater Systems.

An Austin native, Wichmann recently moved back to his hometown after 10 years to start up operations at Ecowater Systems, a Minnesota business that has been around since 1925.

Ecowater Systems provides water treatment systems, including purified water dispensers and reverse osmosis drinking water systems to residential and business customers throughout Minnesota and surrounding states. For the past three months, Wichmann has served as the main go-to for Austinites’ needs.

Considering the business is making a permanent base in Austin, Wichmann is in the process of building his clientele base — something he said he’s doing through good old fashioned customer service.

“I’m excited to be in the community again,” he said. “I think we can have real positive impact.”

Wichmann said his experience in mechanical operations helps him to not only help people set up their water systems, but also help them when it comes to general up-keep.

It’s that aspect of customer service that Wichmann thinks he does best. His commitment to the customer, along with what he sees as a steadily growing need for purified water from a Minnesota company, has him optimistic for the future of the business.

“People are going back to their roots and are buying local,” he said.

According to Wichmann, people are also becoming more cautious about what they put in their bodies. That’s one of the reasons Wichmann got into the business.
