An Austin man was arrested early Tuesday morning for allegedly threatening and choking a woman.

Olayi Oman, 32, faces charges of second-degree assault, domestic assault by strangulation, terroristic threats, carrying a pistol without a permit and interfering with a 911 call.

Police Chief Brian Krueger said Oman and the woman got into a verbal argument that led to a physical confrontation. When the woman attempted to call 911, Oman took the phone away from her.

A third party in the residence then called 911 and officers were dispatched to the scene.
