An Austin man pleaded not guilty to two counts of domestic assault in court Thursday.

Bryan Scott Trimble, 33, is charged with one count felony domestic assault by strangulation and one count gross misdemeanor domestic assault after being arrested Oct. 2.

Trimble allegedly grabbed a woman around the neck, called her inappropriate names and hit her on the right side of her head near her temple after an argument broke out between the two. The woman also said Trimble broke her cell phone during the altercation.

The responding officer photographed red marks on the woman’s neck.

Upon apprehension, Trimble told the officer that he grabbed the woman by the upper shoulder area near her collar bone to “get her attention.” He denied touching her other than that, though.

Trimble was convicted for a previous assault on the same woman on Feb. 14, 2008.

His pre-trial is set for Dec. 30 with a jury trial on Jan. 10.
