Give Austin High Schoolers a minute, and they’ll give back lots of money for charity.
AHS raised $1,606.34 in a minute during Thursday’s Distinguished Alumni assembly for flood relief relief efforts.
At the end of the assembly, student council members Jenna Baker and Taylor Pedersen took the stage to encourage the audience to donate to the local Red Cross to help victims of recent flooding. They conducted a “Miracle Minute,” which consisted of volunteers collecting as much money from students and community members as a minute could allow.
According to AHS Principal Bradley Bergstrom, last year’s student council members did a similar fundraiser for charity efforts in Haiti, raised $708 in a minute.
