Waseca tops Austin tennis team

The Austin girls tennis team lost to Waseca 5-2 at Paulson tennis courts Monday.
The only Packer wins came from it’s No. 1 doubles team of Sophie Hebrink and Nina Carney and the No. 2 doubles team of Mary Kate Barinka and Emily Sundahl.
Barinka and Sundahl scored the first three points of the first set and they held on to win 6-2, 6-4, while Hebrink and Carney won 6-4, 6-3.

“All (the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles players) are seniors and all are leaders,” Austin head coach Tom Tauchnitz said. “They all did a great job staying focused for the entire match. All volleyed extremely well and moved their feet much better today.”
