The Grand Meadow football team found another avenue for offense in a 35-14 win over Mabel/Canton (1-3 overall) in their homecoming game in GM Friday.

The Superlarks (4-0 overall) unleashed junior Richard Bain at fullback for the first time and he responded with 108 yards and a touchdown.

“Richard did a good job,” GM head coach Gary Sloan said. “He’s a very physcial player and he ran well.”

GM has been looking for offense to come from others besides Caleb Leichtnam, who ran for 231 yards and two scores while returning the opening kickoff for a touchdown Friday.

“Against better teams we need to be more than just Caleb on offense,” Sloan said.

M/C also did some damage on the ground as Ben Stuart ran for 152 yards on 23 carries.

“Mabel played very well and they fought,” Sloan said. “We didn’t tackle very well and we weren’t very physical.”
