Gregory Arnold Staples, 63, of Adams died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2010.

Gregory was born May 28, 1947, in St. Paul to Arnold and Marcella (DeRusha) Staples.

He graduated from Humboldt High School in 1965, Winona State College in 1969, and received his Masters in Education from Winona State University in 1986. Greg married Barbara Jean Quest on Aug. 17, 1968, in Minneapolis, Minn. In his spare time Greg loved hunting, fishing, ice fishing, traveling across the country, and attending his grandchildrens’ activities. Greg also was a volunteer teacher for fifth graders at Lake Louise Science, and a former 4-H and Girl Scout helper. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Adam’s Sportsmens’ Club, Duck’s Unlimited, and Pheasants Forever, a firearms safety instructor, and a four time member of Who’s Who Among American Teachers.

He is survived by wife, Barbara Staples, Adams, Minn.; son Patrick (Michele) Staples, Adams, Minn.; daughter: Amy (Jason) Hall, Farmington, Minn.; grandchildren: Kjerstin, Korin and Erik Hall, William and Hunter Staples; mother Marcie Staples, Pine City, Minn.; father-in-law and mother-in-law Fred & Lois Quest, Edina, Minn.; aunt, uncle, nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law.

He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law Connie Quest, father Arnold Staples, uncle Jack Foster, and maternal and paternal grandparents.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 27 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Adams with Father Thomas Loomis officiating. Visitation will be at the Adams Funeral Home on Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. and on Monday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
