Gordon Howard Peterson, 86, of Grand Meadow died of natural causes on Sunday, Sept. 12, 2010 while helping on the farm.

Gordon Howard Peterson was born January 15, 1924 in Frankford Township to Henry C. and Dora (Lokke) Peterson. He attended school in Grand Meadow and graduated iN 1942. On May 8, 1946 he was united in marriage to Winifred Goodsell in Grand Meadow and together they had three children; Suzanne, Nancy and Bruce. After his marriage Gordon entered the United States Army and served in occupied Japan. After his discharge he returned to the Grand Meadow area and went to work for Libby, McNeil and Libby while he also farmed. Gordon started working at IBM when they came to Rochester and continued working there until the early 80’s. He continued farming the entire time and continued helping on the farm up until his death on Sunday. Gordon enjoyed mowing lawn, growing flowers, singing and listening to music, he liked to travel, go camping and fishing (but hated cleaning them) and he truly enjoyed going to the many church dinners in the area.

He is survived by his daughter Nancy (Mrs. James) Anderson of Rochester, MN, son, Bruce (Zainabu) Peterson of Racine, Minn., a son-in-law Martin Hedstrom of Zumbro Falls, Minn., 8 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and 1 sister Hazel Blanchard of Grand Meadow. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in 1994, his daughter Suzanne and 1 brother Conrad.

Funeral service for Gordon H. Peterson will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday September 15, 2010 at the Grand Meadow Lutheran Church with the Rev Ann Siverling officiating.

Burial will take place in the Grand Meadow Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5- 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the Hindt Funeral Home in Grand Meadow and 1hour prior to the service at the church.
