The Packers (1-4 overall, 0-3 Big Nine) played the Falcons (7-3 overall) close in the first and third games.

“I’ve seen us execute great plays and I know they can do it. Meredith Molhusen had a huge ace block tonight,” Austin head coach Darica Schneider said. “It’s frustrating when we know we can do it, but we still don’t.”

Faribault kept the Packers off their game by bringing some consistent heavy hitting to the table.

“We played a lot of defense and didn’t have too much swinging, while they were swinging for much of the match,” she said.

Schneider said her squad needs to find some confidence and it will pick up a few wins.

“The mindset they can beat a team like Faribault isn’t quite there yet,” she said. “If they have that mentality then I think we can compete with teams like that.”

Austin stats: Jessica McCormack, 6 kills; Ashley Folluth, 14 digs, 20 serve receives, 2 ace serves; Jenna Svoboda, 8 set assists; Haley Underwood, 10-for-11 on serves
