An Austin woman has minor injuries after her vehicle was hit from behind at the intersection of 12th St. and Eighth Ave. SW on Tuesday afternoon.

Police received a report of a woman, Julie Wiese, 53, in a Honda Civic who was driving poorly. Wiese hit Ruby Moctezuma-Carrion’s Dodge Caravan from behind as Moctezuma-Carrion was waiting to turn left at the intersection.

According to the police report, Wiese appeared confused and wasn’t sure why the cops wanted to speak with her. Police said she was concerned about the driver of the vehicle she believed that she hit.

Moctezuma-Carrion complained of neck and back pain after the accident but refused treatment from the Gold Cross. Her vehicle had minor damage, as well.

Wiese was given a breath test and police found alcohol did not play a part in the accident.

The report has been forwarded to the city attorney to determine appropriate charges for Wiese.
