The Awesome Blossoms (0-1 overall) pulled to within two points when Luc Zellmer found Cooper Nelson on a four-yard touchdown pass with 1:37 left in the contest, but BP missed the two-point conversion that would’ve tied the game.
Zellmer threw for 265 yards on 40 pass attempts but BP had just 15 yards rushing as a team.
“We were pretty one dimensional and that made it pretty tough,” BP head coach Chad Gimbel said. “If we can run the ball, we’ll be all right.”
Michael Thomas scored a first quarter touchdown for BP on a three-yard run and Luke Hueman hauled in an eight yard touchdown pass from Zellmer in the second quarter.
BP played the game without its standout wide receiver Gabe Kartes, who will return to the lineup next week.
